Addy or Adderall?

Updated: Aug 22, 2024

I have four boys. Any of you that have boys I am certain have either been told or see for yourself, boys have lots of energy! I have a million thoughts and opinions on how we can do better for our boys, in particular in school, but this is about more than allowing our sons to move more, play more and be more active at school.

When my second son was in 5th grade, he was having a hard time paying attention in class.

He would get easily distracted and therefore had a hard time learning the material. My first born, not as much, so I knew something with this boy was different. I took him to his pediatrician for a check up and told him how school was going for him. He suggested I put him on Ritalin. I was very opposed to that at the time, simply because I knew it was a prescribed drug and I did not want my kid on a prescribed drug unless I had exhausted all other options.

We worked hard on lists, reminders and lots of homework together. I know if you asked him today, he would tell you that it was a struggle. In fact even today, he manages and runs a very big gym in Scottsdale and he has to work hard on remembering.

Enter boy number 4....

My youngest. For many years I studied and read and researched trying to find a way to help him with not only his memory but signs of depression. For a long time he was simply too young to articulate what he was feeling. In a nutshell, it was frustration. He tried like hell in school and with all of his effort, he felt lost, dumb, not like his other classmates that seemed to understand the material and did not appear as lost as he did.

I tried testing him using things like EMDR and brain connectivity tests. I dove into his diet to see if there were changes there that I could make to help his brain work better. This went on for years and years.

Then one day I was at a friend's house. He was doing some work and shared with me a new product his company was launching called ADDY. After 5 minutes of hearing what it was intended to for, I asked for a packet, I wanted to try it on my boy.

I gave him 2 capsules the following morning before school. That afternoon he came bounding in the house calling my name. "Look! Look at my math work!" He showed me a handout from the previous day in math, it was covered in his doodles and scribbles, not a number or math problem on the page. The he pulled out his math handout from that day. He had perfect notes written. He made little bubbles with his own notes, explaining the material in his own words that he understood, after hearing and comprehending what the teacher was teaching that day. He said, "Mom, I am a genius!"

If you are a parent, I know you will understand this was music to my ears. See, what I have learned is that it is more than just school. More than learning. It is self esteem, worthiness, feeling like you are ok. Feeling like a genius and not dumb. My sons anxiety and stress was compounded by his feelings of inadequacy. Like he was never enough. This need that so many people have to "pay attention" better, it has huge effects on their lives. Adults and kids alike.

To say I am a fan of ADDY is an understatement. It makes weekend chores easier, he forgets less, he is happier, he got 100% on his last math test!!! For a product that is readily available and all natural, plant based and works.....I would pay a lot. I am so grateful for the change in my son's life, I hope to share this with as many people as I possibly can.
